| Same of the earliest experiments involving incorporation of natural rubber with bitumen happened in as early as 1840’s. The objective was to capture the flexible nature of rubber to produce longer lasting pavements. The formulation however was successfully developed only in the 1960’s and the first definition of Asphalt rubber was published by ASTM in 1988. Indian standards for Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen was published in IS 15462-2004. |
